Top 15 CHL Skill Players To Become NHL Goons (1990-2013)

Below is a list of the top skilled players in Canadian Major Junior hockey who went on to the NHL to become goons (or at least a player who takes a lot of penalties, minimum 1.8 penalty minutes per game and less than 0.5 points per game in the NHL to qualify). These are players who scored close to and above a point per game in the CHL, and were NHL draft picks between 1990 and 2005.

For example, Ian Laperriere scored 378 PTS in 257 GP in the QMJHL, then had 336 points in 1083 NHL GP. Steve Ott, Dan Carcillo, and Steve Downie all made the list, different versions of the same player; productive offensively in junior, then middle weight tough guys with limited offensive upside in the pros.

If you click on the name of the players below, you will be taken to their www.hockeydb.com page.
